

The Department of Budget and Management has officially handed over the National Expenditure Program (NEP) for the 2026 national budget to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, August 8.
The national budget for the fiscal year 2026, amounting to P6.793 trillion and aligns with the theme "Agenda for Prosperity: Nurturing a Future-Ready Generation to Achieve the Nation's Full Potential." This budget aims to further stabilize the foundation of the projects developed and implemented by the Marcos administration over the past three years.
The NEP is also outlined in the Philippine Development Plan for the years 2023-2028.
In accordance with the provisions of the NEP for 2026, the budget is designed to uphold the rights of Filipinos, including the rights to education, healthcare, food security, and a dignified life.
Budget difference
The budget for the fiscal year 2026, amounting to P6.793 trillion, or equivalent to 22.0% of the Gross Domestic Product. It is also considered 7.4% higher than the amount of the 2025 budget, amounting to P6.326 trillion.
Ceremonial turnover to the Congress
DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman is set to personally submit the NEP to the congress tomorrow to be received by House Speaker Martin Romuladez and other leaders of the Congress.
An online livestream will be set during the budget hearing of different departments and agencies concerned, encouraging the public to watch and participate in this event.
