Filipino boxer Dave Apolinario became the newest IBO Flyweight champion after he defeated Gideon Buthelezi via first-round knockout on Saturday, July 30, at the International Convention Centre in East London, South Africa.

The 23-year-old Filipino fighter delivered the left straight that sent his African opponent down to the canvass with at least 12 seconds left in the opening round of the bout

Buthelezi tasted his sixth defeat out of 29 fights after he failed to beat the ten-count.

Apolinario not only holds the sole world boxing title of the Philippines but also remains unbeaten in 17 fights, and registered his 12th victory via knockout.
