A jeepney driver from transport group MANIBELA in San Juan on Thursday, January 25, dubbed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s public utility vehicle (PUV) consolidation deadline extension as a “consuelo de bobo” or a temporary comfort instead of heeding their clamor to scrap the program altogether.
“Ano yan ‘consuelo de bobo’ yung ginawa niyang 3 months? Anong magagawa sa 3 months?” Stepheneil Arias, an MANIBELA official, told RH Edniel Parrosa in an interview.
Tinawag na ‘consuelo de bobo’ ng MANIBELA San Juan ang extension ng consolidation deadline ng PUVMP.

Marcos decided to extend the consolidation deadline until April 30 — a three-month extension to “give an opportunity to those who expressed intention to consolidate but did not make the previous cut-off.”
“Bakit yung TRO [temporary restraining order], bakit hindi pa lumalabas yung TRO?” Arias added, citing the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide’s (PISTON) petition seeking to block the PUV modernization’s enforcement.
Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said they would not extend the deadline beyond April 30.
