The Congress has implemented the ‘computer shutdown policy’ as part of improving network security, which is under the memorandum signed by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

In a report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan, the memorandum ordered the employees to ensure that their work computers, printers, scanners, and other electronic equipment are turned off after their working hours.

Moreover, the memorandum also stated that the unplugging of equipment should be done by 7:30 p.m. or the moment the session is over.

With such an order, the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS) will be conducting the disconnection of all the computer equipment.

If an employee will be working overtime, they will need a request from the ICTS to access the network from the House of Representatives.

Velasco said that strict implementation to protect the House’s computer system is crucial following the hacking incident in some government agencies.
