The secretary and five other personnel of Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo 'Arnie' Teves Jr. have been arrested over alleged violation of laws on firearms and explosives.
In a press release, PBGen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) arrested the secretary and five others during the simultaneous raid of the five houses owned by Teves in Negros Oriental last Friday, March 10.
The PNP-CIDG earlier seized several guns and bullets on Negros Congressman's houses.
Criminal complaints were filed against the following individuals for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
- Hannah Mae Sumerano Oray a.k.a. "Hannah Mae"
- Joseph Kyle Catan Maturan
- Heracleo Sangasin Oray
- Rodolfo Teves Maturan, a.k a. "Jojo Maturan"
- Jose Pablo Gimarangan
- Roland Aguisanda Pablio
Additional charges were filed against Gimarangan and Pablio for RA 9516 or the Illegal possession of Explosives.
"All arrested persons were under the custody of CIDG RFU NCR," Caramat said.
Meanwhile, he said they will soon file complaints against Teves and his sons Kurth Matthew Teves and Axel Teves for infringement of RA 10591 and RA 9516.
"The PNP-CIDG enforces the law regardless of one's status in society. We will assure impartiality in the conduct of the investigation and will hold criminals accountable for the offense they committed,” Caramat underlined.
