The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday said they have received over one million voter applications since resuming registration efforts in December of last year.
According to Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco, as of January 13, 2023, the running total of registration applications is already at 1,024,521, which Comelec expects to significantly increase as it includes the final output from last week, as well as the applications that are still being received.
He added that the figure does not yet include the total number of applications from the "Register Anywhere" project, which had received 2,996 as of Jan. 15.
Simultaneously, Laudiangco reminded qualified voters to register because the Comelec sees no reason to extend the registration period.
He urged them to register in order to vote in the October Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Laudiangco stated that local Comelec offices are open Monday through Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Aside from polling places, the public can register at hubs in participating malls.
