The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has announced that the proclamation of the 12 winning senatorial candidates in the 2025 midterm elections will be held on Saturday, May 17.
COMELEC Chairman George Erwin Garcia noted that the proclamation will take place at 3:00 p.m. and that they are only waiting for the formal recommendation from the Supervisory Committee.
"Hinihintay na lang namin ‘yung formal na recommendation ng Supervisory Committee. They will recommend to proclaim the 12 winning Senatorial candidates base sa ranking kahapon," said Garcia.
Each individual in the “Magic 12” will be allowed to bring up to 15 guests to the proclamation ceremony.
Garcia explained that the poll body will allow more companions per winner in recognition of the dedication and effort the candidates demonstrated during the election.
In addition, all COMELEC commissioners will participate in the proclamation. The winning party-list groups, on the other hand, will be proclaimed on Monday, May 19.
Meanwhile, Garcia also expressed COMELEC's satisfaction with the voter turnout, which reached 82.20%, equivalent to 57,350,968 out of 67,673,653 registered voters.
This marks the highest voter turnout in the history of Philippine midterm elections.
