The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) rescheduled the deadline for submitting the bidding documents for the automation of the 2025 national elections.
Based on Supplemental/Bid Bulletin No. 3, COMELEC moved the opening of bids from November 28 to December 12 in order 'to give ample time to all bidders to prepare their bids due to the magnitude and numerous requirements of the project'.
COMELEC chair George Garcia said that the postponement will also give time for the poll body to decide on the disqualification case filed against Smartmatic.
Garcia said the members of COMELEC en banc have received the draft resolution of the case against Smartmatic.
"The COMELEC should not decide based on the sentiment of the people, the gossip of others. The COMELEC should decide based on evidence at hand, jurisprudence, and facts presented to us," Garcia stressed.
