The Commission on Election has announced cancellation of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) filing in National Capital Region (NCR), Abra, and Ilocos Norte due to inclement weather.
In an advisory on Thursday, Comelec said operations of all the Comelec office in the three areas are suspended “due to severe rains and flooding brought about by Typhoon Goring.”
Comelec, however, noted that the filing of COC in NCR, Ilocos Norte, and Abra has been extended until September 3.
"Due to suspension of Government Work on account of inclement weather, COC Filing in NCR and the Provinces of Abra and Ilocos Norte is EXTENDED until 5:00 PM of 3 September 2023," the statement read.
PAGASA reported on Thursday that severe Tropical Storm (STS) Hanna, known by its international name Haikui, has maintained its strength while over the Philippine Sea.
On Wednesday evening, Super Typhoon (STY) Goring has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
