Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director PMGen. Nicolas Torre III has lodged a complaint against former President Rodrigo Duterte in response to his recent controversial statement suggesting the killing of incumbent senators.

The complaint was filed on Monday before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with Duterte's alleged joke during the PDP-Laban's proclamation rally, where he suggested that senators should be killed to make room for their supported candidates to take office.

In an ambush interview, Torre said the complaint he filed for case build-up was for inciting sedition and unlawful utterances regarding Duterte's statement calling for the killing of 15 senators.

“Alam niyo bagong Pilipinas na. Hindi na pwede ‘yung mga gano'ng statements na kinaumagahan joke only na lang,” said Torre.

"Ang gulo-gulo na nga ng pinagdaanan ng bansa natin in the past 6 years. Hanggang ngayon ba naman dadalhin natin ‘yang gulo na ‘yan na puro patay patay na lang? Pagkatapos if they will be taken on their word, bigla na lang sasabihin na joke only, or ‘yung latest naman na palusot is he’s only expressing a legal opinion,” he added.

Torre further stated that such remarks should not be overlooked, even if they are later claimed to be a "joke," emphasizing that the statement carries weight because it could be taken seriously by Duterte's supporters.

Moreover, once the case build-up is completed, the complaint will be filed for preliminary investigation at the DOJ.

On February 13, members and supporters of PDP-Laban gathered for the Senatorial Candidates Proclamation Rally at Club Filipino in San Juan City.

Among the candidates presented were re-electionist Senators Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa and Bong Go, along with other candidates such as Philip Salvador, Atty. Raul Lambino, Atty. Jesus “Jayvee” Hinlo, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, Atty. Jimmy Bondoc, SAGIP Party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta, and Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).

Former President Duterte mentioned the controversial remark during his speech at the campaign sortie.
