Leaders of Christian churches under the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) on Monday filed charges against drag queen Pura Luka Vega following her performance that went viral wherein she was dressed as the Black Nazarene and used the upbeat and remixed "Ama Namin" in a club performance.
PJM President Bishop Leo Alconga, Pastor Romie Suela, and Pastor Mars Rodriguez individually charged Pura Luka with alleged violation of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code and in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
According to the PJM, the drag performance was “not only terribly blasphemous” but also caused a devalued and negative image” of the Christian God, which they hold in veneration.
Earlier this, Pura Luka Vega was declared persona non grata in General Santos City.
The drag queen previously said that she is not sorry for the viral performance which intends to express queerness.
