Time to update your museum bucket list as the first-ever chess museum in the Philippines is now open in Marikina City!
On Thursday, Marikina Public Information Office (PIO) announced that the chess museum, dedicated to Filipino legendary Grandmaster Eugene Torre, is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 6 am to 7 pm.
The Eugene Torre Chess Museum is located at Gen. Ordoñez, Brgy. Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.
According to Marikina PIO, the museum features Torre's memorabilia, including his photos, medals, and trophies he won in the span of his 50-year career in chess.
The entrance to the chess museum is free.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Inside Marikina shared that various local and international chess sets such as Super Mario Bros. Collector's Edition, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, wood-crafted Igorot set, and more can also be found inside the Eugene Torre Chess Museum.
