Melinda Rafanan, a proud native of Solsona, Ilocos Norte, has been selected as the 'Queen of Queens of Solsona of Hawaii 2025.' She has extended a special invitation to senatorial aspirant Luis 'Manong Chavit' Singson to be the guest of honor.
The prestigious coronation will take place on January 24, 2025, at the Solsona Municipal Auditorium at 6:00 PM.
Manong Chavit, a long-time supporter of beauty pageants, is no stranger to the Miss Universe pageant, having backed the competition during its 2016 staging in the Philippines. He also shared that he was offered the Miss Universe franchise at one point but declined, choosing instead to offer his support to the franchise holder.
In her invitation letter, Rafanan expressed her deep honor in inviting someone of Singson’s stature. She highlighted that the coronation is more than just a celebration—it's a testament to unity, friendship, love, and the enduring spirit of Bayanihan.
"Bilang isa sa mga iginagalang na pinuno ng politika at negosyante na tunay na nagpapakita ng mga katangiang ito sa katutubong lalawigan ng Ilocanos, ang iyong pagdalo at pakikilahok sa koronasyon ay lubos na magpaparangal at magdaragdag ng ningning sa okasyon at magbibigay ng higit na kahalagahan sa sandaling ito," Rafanan wrote.
The coronation will be held in conjunction with the "Balikbayan Night", a key event marking the opening of the 2025 Solsona Gameng Festival.
Rafanan expects that many Filipinos from Hawaii, as well as those from the U.S. mainland, will join the celebration.
The event promises to be a grand and historic affair, celebrating Ilocano culture, traditions, and the sense of solidarity that connects Filipinos from all over the world.
