Veteran broadcaster Cesar Chavez, the current station manager of DZRH, will make his return to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named Chavez, a former deputy administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), as the Undersecretary-designate for Rails of DOTr.
Outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Chavez to the same position in 2017.
Incoming Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles credited Chavez for securing the National Economic and Development Authority Board’s approval for the Metro Manila Subway, Philippine National Railways Manila to Calamba, PNR Manila to Bicol, and the Tagum-Davao-Digos Mindanao rail projects.
"Chavez is also credited for overseeing the interconnection of the LRT Line 1 in Monumento to MRT 3 in North Edsa, ensuring seamless travel for the passengers," Cruz-Angeles said on Thursday, June 23, in a statement.
Marcos has also named Atty. Cheloy E. Garafil as Chairperson-designate of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and businessman Christopher "Chet" Pastrana as General Manager-designate of the Philippine Ports Authority.
