Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano congratulated Alas Pilipinas for striking bronze in the 2024 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenger Cup for Women.
The Philippine national women's volleyball climbed the podium for the first time in an AVC-sanctioned tournament after defeating Australia in three sets, 25-23, 25-15, 25-7, on Wednesday, May 29, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
"My salute to Alas Pilipinas for bringing honor to the country, happiness to the volleyball community, and unity among Filipinos," said Cayetano, the chairman emeritus of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation.
The Filipinas went undefeated in the pool stage of the AVC Challenge Cup after defeating Australia, India, Iran, and Chinese Taipei.
The host team, however, fell short of entering the gold medal match after falling to eventual silver medalists Kazakhstan, 25-23, 25-21, 25-14, in the semifinals
