National Security Adviser (NSA) Clarita Reyes Carlos on Wednesday visited the Western Command (Wescom) in Palawan and Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea.
In a Facebook post shared by Wescom Armed Forces of the Philippines, Carlitos first visited Wescom’s joint operations area and had a meeting with the team in Antonio Bautista Airbase.
According to Vice Admiral Alberto Carlos, NSA’s visit bespeaks of their “common aspiration, strong stand, and unwavering dedication to protect the people and the state under our responsibility.”
From Palawan, Carlos then proceeded to visit the Pag-Asa island via military aircraft.
The officials from the Municipal Government of Kalayaan Province, military, uniformed personnel, and local residents welcomed her.
“Bumisita si National Security Adviser Prof. Clarita R. Carlos sa Barangay Pag-Asa Munisipyo ng Kalayaan upang personal umano niyang matunghayan ang pisikal na kalagayan ng nasabing bayan, kasabay ng kanyang pagbisita sa Probinsya ng Palawan,” the municipal wrote in its Facebook post.
Admiral Carlos said that they have done their best to ensure that the “NSA’s official visit in Wescom’s area of responsibility is worthwhile” and that no stones will be “unturned as to all security matters of utmost significance”.
“WESCOM's commitment to national security and interests is and shall always be the order of the day," he added.
Clarita Carlos also concurrently serves as the chairperson of the National Task Force-West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS).
NSA earlier met with the Philippine Coast Guard (PSG) to discuss maritime security.
