Camarines Sur 5th District Congressman Migz Villafuerte released a video after receiving backlash on social media following a photo of him handing over money to residents affected by the flood.
In the photo circulating online, which was initially uploaded by Villafuerte on Thursday, he is seen giving 500-peso bills to some residents.
Many netizens claimed that Villafuerte's act was a form of vote buying.
A few hours later, Villafuerte posted a video promising the old woman he gave money to that he would soon help fix her roof.
"Kahit konti lang ang dala ko dyan, pero mula sa puso yan, lola. Pagkatapos nitong lahat, papaayos ko bubong nyo. Promise," he captioned.
Earlier, Villafuerte shared that his team together with other volunteers went to stranded areas in several barangays and rescued 17 individuals.
