The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Cagayan on Wednesday, January 17, said it tightened the preventive measures following African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in the province.
“Yung preventive measures natin diyan ay nai-establish natin last year. Yung manning ng entry and exit points natin ay hinigpitan natin,” PDRRMO Cagayan officer-in-charge Rueli Rapsing told DZRH in an interview.
“Hinigpitan natin yung protocols. Yung households naman lalong-lalo na yung mga nasa backyard hog raising, in-advice natin sila na maging maingat sa pagkain ng baboy,” he added.
Rapsing said they were yet to figure the exact number of ASF cases in the place, stating that “Hindi pa namin nare-receive namin yung update from the provincial head natin.”
The officer added that the increase in ASF cases were “not alarming.”
“Hindi naman dahil sa nagluwag [kaya dumami ang cases], mahigpit pa rin yung protocols natin. Hindi [alarming]. Hanggang household levels yung ating campaign,” Rapsing said.
