The incumbent mayor of Pandi, Bulacan, has been arrested on the charge of raping a minor. He has denied the allegation, calling it “false” and “made up.”
Mayor Enrico Roque was apprehended on Tuesday at a party held in his own resort, Amana Waterpark, by the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), which was confirmed by its director, PBGEN Nicolas Torre III.
According to Roque’s recent Facebook posts, he hosted Christmas parties for Pandi’s Persons With Disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens then.
The operation was prompted by a warrant of arrest issued by presiding judge Hon. Ma. Rowena Violago Alejandria of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Caloocan Branch 121, reported RH 5 Val Gonzales.
Roque claims accusation is 'politically motivated'
Meanwhile, the mayor’s camp has filed a “Motion to Quash Warrant of Arrest and Information,” claiming the rape complaint is “false, made up and politically motivated.”
The motion asserts that Roque and two others accused were denied their constitutional right to due process as they had not been notified beforehand.
