The Philippine boxing community has been struck by tragedy once again, as young bantamweight fighter Kenneth Egano, 22, passed away on Wednesday due to head injuries sustained during his eight-round fight in Imus, Cavite just a few days prior.

Egano, hailing from General Santos City and part of the stable Amoy Boxing, had a promising record of 7-13 (3 KOs), including a recent victory over Jason Facualrin in his last fight at the Imus Sports gymnasium as part of the Blow-By-Blow boxing program.

However, the young athlete never got to hear the announcement of his win, as he lost consciousness in his corner while awaiting the judges' decision.

Egano was rushed to the hospital immediately and was found to have suffered a brain hemorrhage, which led to his eventual coma and passing four days after collapsing in the ring.

The tragic news was confirmed by Amoy Boxing, who expressed their condolences and deep sadness over the loss of their boxer.

Pacquiao's company, MP Promotions, was responsible for organizing the Blow-By-Blow program, which Egano had been a part of.

The incident has once again sparked discussions about the safety and regulations surrounding the sport of boxing, and the need to prioritize the health and well-being of fighters.
