Lakas-CMD Chairperson and Senator Bong Revilla Jr. said he was surprised to see Davao Mayor Sara Duterte joining their party on Thursday.
In an interview with DZRH to Revilla, the senator said he was surprised when the presidential daughter took an oath under the party.
"Napag-usapan na siguro 'yun nung ibang mga kasamahan natin, pero ako na-surprise talaga ako sa mga nangyari tonight," he told DZRH.
(Our other members might have been talking about this, but I was really surprised over what happened tonight.)
Revilla was a witness to Duterte taking the oath administered by House Majority Floor Leader Rep. Martin Romualdez, also the president of the party.
Regarding Duterte's national plans, Revilla said the party is already discussing it and the public should wait for her announcement.
"We welcome si Mayor Inday Sara sa Lakas," he also said.
(We welcome Mayor Inday Sara here in Lakas.)
Speculations about Sara Duterte's plans for a national bid in the 2022 elections have been running high since the presidential daughter pulled out of the mayoral race in Davao City.
On Thursday, she resigned from her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago before later joining Lakas - CMD.
