Japan B.League team Fukushima Firebonds parted ways with Filipino basketball player Robert Bolick.

The Firebonds announced on Thursday, October 19, that the team terminated the contract of Bolick upon the request of the 28-year-old basketball player.

Firebonds president Hajime Nishida said that the team held many discussions with Bolick but decided to respect the wishes of the player.

"This happened just after the season had begun, and something that the club had not originally anticipated," Nishida said in Japanese in a statement posted on the official website of the Firebonds.

Bolick only played one game with the Firebonds before the termination of his contract.

During the 95-90 loss of the Firebonds at the hands of the Yamagata Wyverns last October 7, Bolick finished with 10 points.

Last May, Bolick, who previously played for the Northport Batang Pier in the PBA, signed a two-year contract, with a player option for a third year, with the Firebonds.

While the Firebonds did not reveal the reason Bolick for opting out of the contract, reports, citing his agent Marvin Espiritu, said that the player made the decision due to his wife, Cassandra, being 10 weeks pregnant.

The camp of Bolick has yet to announce the next move of the player or whether he will return to the PBA.
