Tropang Giga routed Brgy. Ginebra, 104-88, in Game One on Sunday, October 27, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal.
Rondae Hollis Jefferson finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Rey Nambatac tallied 18 markers and 10 boards for the Tropang Giga to take the lead in the best-of-seven series.
The Tropang Giga never let go of the lead after a 13-point scoring run put the squad up, 15-2, at the first quarter.
Justin Brownlee tried to stage a comeback for the Gin Kings, and his four-point basket trimmed the deficit down to four, 47-43.
However, Jayson Castro, who finished with 14 markers, scored 12 points in the third period for the Tropang Giga to start the final quarter with a 10-point advantage, 72-62.
Brownlee scored 23 points, and Japeth Aguilar added 14 points to pace Ginebra that trailed behind by 20 points at most.
Tropang Giga will seek to take a 2-0 lead, while the Gin Kings plans to equalize the series on Game Two on Wednesday, October 30, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
