The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport three South Korean fugitives who were captured by officers from its Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in separate operations in Pampanga and Rizal on September 14 and 19.

“They have been placed in our blacklist of undesirable aliens, thus they are perpetually banned from re-entering the Philippines for being undesirable aliens,” BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.

On September 14, one of the apprehended South Korean nationals was a 45-year-old male who was sought for telecommunications fraud.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by a Korean court, where he is accused of being a member of a voice phishing syndicate that allegedly scammed victims out of over 100 million won, or more than US$74,000.

The second arrested individual is a 46-year-old male who is wanted for running an illegal online gambling operation. He faces charges for violating Korea's Game Industry Promotion Act.

The third individual, a 44-year-old man arrested in Rizal, is wanted for fraud. He is accused of defrauding 23 victims by promising to process their visas while employed at the Canada Immigration Support Center in Seoul, allegedly earning 73 million won in the process.

He is also facing criminal complaints for blackmail and kidnapping, according to reports from the Korean National Police Agency.

According to Viado, the deportation of the Koreans to Seoul will take place once the BI board of commissioners releases the order for their summary deportation.

The three South Koreans, whose passports have been canceled, are in custody at the BI facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, awaiting their deportation.
