The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) on Monday announced its decision to withdraw from the Thailand-based Miss Grand International pageant and no longer renew its franchise.
In a statement, BPCI thanked the MGI organizers and wished them "the best in their future endeavors." It did not provide any details as to what caused the withdrawal.
"Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) officially withdraws from Miss Grand International and will no longer renew its franchise. We thank the organizers of Miss Grand International and wish them the best in their future endeavors,” it stated.
The organization, which has been going on for 60 years, said it remains committed to "delighting our followers and sponsors through the production of world-class pageants that help propel Filipinas to reach their fullest potential and achieve greatness on an international stage."
"For almost 60 years, we have built BPCI’s legacy in producing a stellar roster of international winners and over the decades we have enjoyed the immense support of our fans. We will be forever grateful for their dedication, passion, and love for Bb. Pilipinas and our Queens," it ended.
Their withdrawal comes weeks after Miss Grand Philippines Roberta Tamondong was appointed as the new Miss Grand Internal 5th runner-up after the resignation of the titleholder, Mauritius’ bet Yuvna Gookool. She originally finished in the Top 20.
Meanwhile, other Philippine bets Samantha Bernardo and Nicole Cordoves both finished as Miss Grand International's first runner-ups.
Following this, the remaining crowns left with BPCI are Miss International Philippines, Miss Globe Philippines, and Miss Intercontinental Philippines.
