Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte slammed the Marcos administration on Tuesday after his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, was arrested at NAIA Terminal 3.

In a series of Facebook posts, the Mayor stated that the current administration is "fantasizing" that the arrest of the former President would "materialize" and that the issue surrounding the national budget would simply vanish, calling it an act of desperation.

Moreover, the young Duterte also accused the authorities of seeking a "prolonged standoff" by using Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director PMGen. Nicolas Torre III to "illegally" detain his father and deny him medical care, alleging that they are attempting to murder "the old man."

Ultimately, he asserted that it is not the Philippine National Police (PNP) executing the warrant, as they are unable to justify their actions.

He labeled it a political maneuver by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration and cautioned, "Be prepared no matter what."

Malacañang earlier confirmed that the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for former President Duterte had been executed.

Duterte and his group arrived in Manila from Hong Kong at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday. Over the weekend, he had attended a thanksgiving event with overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), accompanied by the senatorial candidates he was endorsing.

Upon his arrival, the Prosecutor General served the ICC's notification for an arrest warrant against the former President for crimes against humanity.

He was then taken to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City after his arrest.
