Metro Manila mayors will begin the distribution of cash aid or ayuda on Wednesday, August 11 amid the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in their areas due to the rising cases of the virulent COVID-19 Delta variant.
During a Cabinet meeting on Monday night, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said PHP 10.98 billion will be used in the distribution of cash aid to over 10 million low-income Filipinos in the National Capital Region (NCR).
It will be distributed to some 10.7 million individuals who are entitled to PHP 1,000 up to PHP 4,000 cash aid each per family.
The LGUs are required to release the assistance in cash and complete the distribution within 15 days.
Metro Manila Council and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said beneficiaries also include those who previously received cash assistance during the first and second tranche.
Metro Manila has been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 until August 20, 2021.
