Weeks prior the start of a new PBA season, Converge FiberXers announced on Thursday, August 1, that Coach Aldin Ayo parted ways with the ball club.
"It was a mutually agreed decision for both parties to part ways. We are thankful for their dedicated service to the team for almost two years," FiberXers team manager Jacob Lao said in a statement.
Assistant Coach McJour Luib also left the FiberXers.
Under the leadership of Ayo, Converge reached the quarterfinals of the 2022-2023 PBA Commissioner's Cup, and the 2023 PBA Governor's Cup.
However, in the last two conferences of the league, the FiberXers placed dead last among the 12 PBA teams, and only won three out of 22 games.
Converge tasked Assistant Coach Franco Atienza to fill in the void brought about by the departure of Ayo.
"Atienza is an experienced coach with 18 years of experience, serving as Head Coach for high school and collegiate basketball before being recruited into the PBA by the Alaska Aces in 2011 as Assistant Coach," the FiberXers said.
The FiberXers prepare for the upcoming 2024 PBA Governors' Cup that will kick-off on August 18.
