The Coast Guard K9 Force (CGK9) Team Liloan and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's Seaport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-SIU) in Southern Leyte confiscated suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or "shabu," valued at ₱387 million at Liloan Port on November 7.
Authorities initially discovered an abandoned metallic gray vehicle, which prompted a panel inspection. A Narcotics Detection Dog (NDD) then conducted the inspection to identify any illicit substances.
The inspection led to a positive indication, and a subsequent search uncovered sealed packages in tea bags on the back seat, containing 57 blocks of suspected shabu.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle had traveled from Surigao City to Eastern Visayas aboard the MV Fascat. The driver, upon spotting the inspection team, fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle at the port.
All confiscated illegal drugs were taken into custody for proper documentation and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and processing.
Efforts are underway to locate the driver and identify others potentially linked to the case.
