The Department of Transportation (DOTr) wants to hold “colorum” ambulances accountable following the misuse of said vehicles.

In a press release on Friday, February 23, DOTr said it will hold a press conference on March 1 to discuss the growing trend of “colorum” ambulances or owners of vehicles that mark them as ambulances to exploit the right-of-way.

“This not only harm and endanger the public but also undermines the true purpose of ambulances,” the statement read.

DOTr emphasized the importance of raising awareness on the issue to ensure the integrity of ambulance services.

“It's crucial to raise awareness and build the capacity of all stakeholders to effectively identify and apprehend these unauthorized ambulances,” it further said.
