An alleged pro-Duterte vlogger and lead convenor of the Maisug Rally in Cebu was served a search warrant at his home after spreading false information that CIDG Chief PMGen. Nicolas Torre III was hospitalized.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Torre announced that he had applied for a search warrant against Ernesto Abines Jr., also known as Jun Abines, to confiscate the devices he used in spreading the false news.
"Ipinakalat mo na naospital ako. Nagdulot ito ng pag-alala at pagkabalisa sa pamilya at mga kaibigan ko," Torre said in the caption.
"Ano ang naging aksyon ko? Sumandig ako sa batas, naniniwala ako na mali man ang ginawa mo ay may karapatan kang humarap sa korte at mabigyan ng due process," he added.
Abines' previous post featured an allegedly edited photo of Torre, with a caption falsely announcing his hospitalization.
"Ano kaya sakit niya? Mukhang malala. Padalhan kaya siya ng Malakanyang? O baka KOJC pa mauna mag-pray para sa kanya at magpadala ng Bulaklak," the caption read.
Abines is among the vloggers invited by the House Tri-Committee for an investigation into the lack of regulations for social media platforms amid the spread of disinformation.
Several of the invitees, who have amassed thousands of followers online, have been vocal supporters of former president Rodrigo Duterte and his family, including Vice President Sara Duterte.
