A suspected piece of Chinese rocket debris has been discovered in the waters off Morong in Bataan, according to Commodore Jay Tariella, spokesperson for the Philippine Coast Guard.
The debris was sighted and reported by local fishermen and is now under the custody of the Coast Guard station in Limay, Bataan.
Based on initial investigation, Tariella stated that the found rocket debris resembles the Chinese automated cargo spacecraft called Tian-Zhou.
Particularly, a section of the debris bears Chinese characters and the flag of China.
Currently, the Philippine Coast Guard has no information on how the wreckage ended up in Bataan, and they will be coordinating with the Philippine Space Agency for further details.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Chinese rocket debris has washed up in the Philippines.
There have been previous incidents, and recently, China took custody of wreckage that was under the Philippine Navy's jurisdiction.
