Alas Pilipinas salvaged a bronze medal finish in the first leg of the 2024 SEA V.League in Vietnam.
After suffering back-to-back losses, the Filipinas earned their first win in the tournament by defeating Indonesia in four sets, 25-25, 15-25, 25-23, 25-21, on Sunday, August 4.
Alyssa Solomon finished with 16 markers, built from 14 attacks, one block, and one ace, while both Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina chipped in 13 points to lead the Philippine national women's volleyball team to a podium finish.
Arsela Nuari Purnama contributed 22 markers, and Megawati Pertiwi added 18 points for the Indonesian team that went winless in the competition.
The win put and end to the 13-game losing streak of the Philippines in the inter-country volleyball tournament that stretched since the second leg of the 2019 ASEAN Grand Prix.
Alas Pilipinas will seek to keep the momentum when the squad returns to action in the second leg of the 2024 SEA V.League that will run from August 9 to August 11 in Thailand.
