The return of Metro Manila to enhanced community quarantine status affected the flights of airline companies in the Philippines.
AirAsia said that only essential travellers and authorized persons outside of residence can travel into and out of Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna and Rizal as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
In an advisory, the airline company said that essential Travelers and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) include the following:
- Health/emergency frontline personnel
- Government officials and frontline personnel
- Duly authorized humanitarian assistance actors
- Persons traveling for medical/humanitarian reasons
- Persons going to the airport for travel abroad
- Persons crossing zones for work or business permitted in the zone of destination, and going back home
- Returning or repatriated OFWs and other Overseas Filipinos returning to their places of residence
AirAsia also reminded guests of the temporary suspension of inbound travel to Iloilo City and Cagayan for people coming from Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Cebu, and Davao City.
The temporary suspension will begin on August 1 and last until August 7.
“AirAsia would like to advise our guests to regularly check our social media pages for updated travel requirements. We will continue to monitor the situation in our various domestic destinations, and will update flight schedules regularly as needed," AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.
Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have cancelled some of their flights in response to the decision of the government.
