A Philippine Air Force (PAF) C-295 aircraft carrying relief supplies experienced a tire detachment during its landing in Basco, Batanes, on Friday afternoon.
According to PAF, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. as the aircraft was landing at Basco Airport.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla said that the plane, which had departed Manila earlier, was delivering family food packs for the Office of Civil Defense when it "experienced a detached nose landing gear tire during landing."
Meanwhile, no injuries were reported among the pilots or crew.
Both the PAF and AFP have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the tire detachment.
"The PAF assures the public that despite this incident, our commitment and selfless duty to conduct rescue and relief operations in Batanes and all other typhoon-affected areas will continue by all other means," PAF said.
"The AFP assures the public of continued delivery of essential supplies to affected communities. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident, and steps will be taken to ensure the safety and efficiency of future operations. Updates will be provided as the situation develops," Padilla remarked.
