The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) plans to report Facebook and Twitter accounts that urge people to join the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA).
"We will lodge a complaint. Iparating natin sa kanila (Twitter and Meta Platforms, Inc.) para alam nila yung ginagawa,"said Col. Ramon Zagala, spokesperson of the AFP, on Wednesday, April 21, during DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
Zagala also mentioned that Facebook recently flagged a post by National Security Adviser (NSA) Hermogenes Esperon Jr. for not following the community standards of the social media platform.
In said social media post, Esperon urged Filipinos to unite 'against armed struggle and against all organizations, aboveground and underground, that support the New People’s Army, including Communist Party (CPP) members who have infiltrated the Congress through the party list system'.
"Kung kaya nilang gawin kay Secretary Esperon iyon, dapat magkaroon din sila ng imbestigasyon dito, lalo na ito ay paghikayat na gumamit ng violence, " Esperon said.
The AFP official also urged the public to be vigilant of social media posts that recruit people to the CPP-NPA and seeks to forward the communist armed movement in the Philippines.
