The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirms the success of a resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre on Thursday, September 26, at the Ayungin Shoal.

A civilian vessel, M/V Lapu-Lapu, delivered essential supplies and provisions to the personnel aboard the BRP Sierra Madre.

"The AFP will continue to perform its mandates in the West Philippine Sea, and provide full support and care for our stationed troops," AFP assured on Friday, September 27, in a Facebook post.

Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, spokesperson of AFP, also confirmed the presence of eight Chinese vessels in the vicinity of Ayungin Shoal when AFP conducted the rotation and resupply (RORE) mission with support from the Philippine Coast Guard.

"Up to 8 different Chinese vessels were monitored in the vicinity, but posed no threat to our mission and our personnel were able to complete the mission and sustain our presence in the shoal," Padilla said in a message to reporters.

Prior the said mission, the last RORE operation to the BRP Sierra Madre happened in July 27.
