The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced on Wednesday the successful completion of its rotation and resupply (RoRe) mission to troops stationed aboard the BRP Sierra Madre (LS-57) at Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea, coinciding with the country’s observance of "Araw ng Kagitingan."
In a statement, the AFP noted that the successful mission was completed with the assistance of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Moreover, the AFP stated that the troop rotation and delivery of supplies to the Filipino warship were carried out without any "untoward incident."
Based on DZRH News monitoring, this marks the seventh consecutive RoRe mission completed without any harassment since June 17, 2024, when a Filipino soldier lost a finger during an incident.
RoRe missions without untoward incident are as follows:
- July 27, 2024
- September 26, 2024
- November 14, 2024
- December 12, 2024
- January 24, 2025
- March 4, 2025
- April 9, 2025
"This milestone continues to highlight the AFP’s unwavering commitment to ensuring continuous logistical and operational support for our personnel, despite the challenging security environment in the West Philippine Sea," the AFP stated.
The AFP emphasized that the RoRe mission on the 83rd Day of Valor is significant, as it highlights the nation’s appreciation for the soldiers guarding the country’s territory in the West Philippine Sea.
"As the nation marks the 83rd Anniversary of the Day of Valor, the AFP honors the courage and dedication of our soldiers aboard BRP Sierra Madre who continue to stand guard in the West Philippine Sea to uphold our sovereignty, sovereign rights and national interest," the AFP added.
