The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reaffirmed that they remain open to accepting police details for the Vice President's security, despite the recent reorganization of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG).

AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad stated that the newly established AFP Security and Protection Group (AFP-SPG) has its own personnel assigned to ensure the safety of the Vice President and other important officials.

However, in a press briefing at Camp Capinpin in Rizal, Trinidad reiterated that they are prepared to cooperate with the Philippine National Police (PNP), which had previously assigned personnel to the VPSPG.

“We assure that there is a mass collaboration and coordination with our counterpart, the Philippine National Police. So, the APSPG has its particular dedicated for the Vice President,” said Trinidad.

In a separate interview with DZRH, PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo clarified that the 25 personnel assigned to Vice President Sara Duterte's security were not "withdrawn," despite her calling them "underutilized."

In fact, the police personnel were said to be reporting to Camp Aguinaldo until the formal establishment of the AFP-SPG is confirmed.

The AFP previously denied the dissolution of the VPSPG and insisted that the Vice President's security detail had not been removed.
