The Philippines’ Lumpia Queen, Abi Marquez, has again gone international!
On early Saturday, May 24, the food content creator excitedly announced she bagged the “Food Creator of the Year” award at the World Influencers and Bloggers Awards (WIBA) at the Cannes Film Festival.
“OMG GUYS NANALO AKO SKSHABINOABIIVVISS,” she captioned her post.
In a separate social media post, Abi thanked her team, family, and friends for guiding her every step of the way. She also described the feeling of being surrounded by creators from around the world.
“Still CRAZY to me that I’m in Europe for the first time and recognized for what my team and I have built with love, to be surrounded by creators from around the world AND to represent Filipino food on another global platform,” she wrote.
“To everyone who watched and shared our content, MARAMING SALAMAT PO. You helped Filipino Food be seen across the globe,” she added.
Before Abi triumphed at WIBA, she announced her nomination for the platform, adding that she will bring the “heart of Filipino creativity and food to a global stage.”
In the photos, Abi was wearing a “Pinoy Spaghetti” custom gown by Jo Rubio. The fiery red custom gown had the words “kain tayo” embroidered at the bottom.
Meanwhile, fashion stylist Pam Ricarte completed the look with a pasta bag, kutsara earrings, and spaghetti nails.
Last April, Abi was nominated anew for the Webby Awards, a year after she became the first Filipino to win at the awards show. She was recognized for the People’s Voice, General Social: Food & Drink Category.
Earlier this year, she took on the challenge of making a Beef Wellington lumpia for British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay during his visit to the Philippines.
