The internet’s “Lumpia Queen,” Abi Marquez, is nominated for a second Webby Award this year!
Abi is nominated under the Individual Creator Food & Drink category, alongside other online personalities like Jeremy Scheck, Olivia Tiedemann, Joshua Weissman, and Babish Culinary Universe.
Abi is eligible for two honors this year: The Webby Award and the Webby People’s Voice Award. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) will choose winners for the first category, while the latter will be won through public voting.
Voting for the said category will be open until Thursday, April 17, at 11:59 PDT.
Winners will be announced on April 22, while an exclusive awards ceremony will be held in New York City on May 12.
According to the award-giving body, public voting would allow the public to determine who will win the “Best of the Internet” title.
The Webby Awards are the internet's leading international awards, and are presented annually by the IADAS, with the judging body composed of over three thousand industry professionals.
In May 2024, Abi became the first-ever Filipino to win a Webby Award, bagging the People’s Voice, General Social: Food & Drink Category.
Meanwhile, in January this year, Abi and other known personalities took on a (not so) mini MasterChef challenge with Gordon Ramsay. But before she went onstage, the chef had challenged Abi to make a Beef Wellington lumpia.
“Visually, wow, that looks good. Now listen, I’m very sorry, but I don't like it, I love it! That is a very, very posh spring roll. Delicious. May I have some more, please? I’m taking this away so no one can steal it,” Gordon said in response to Abi’s beef wellington lumpia.
