The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday that a total of 814 new cases of the Omicron subvariant have been detected in the country.
According to the latest findings from COVID-19 biosurveillance, out of the samples, 785 cases have been categorized under the designation XBB.
Within the XBB classification, various sublineages have been identified. Among them, 65 cases were identified as XBB.1.5, signifying a specific genetic variation within the XBB group.
Furthermore, 206 cases were classified as XBB.1.16, 135 cases as XBB.1.9.1, 35 cases as XBB.1.9.2, 254 cases as XBB.2.3, and 90 cases fell into other distinct XBB sublineages.
In addition, the DOH reported that 20 cases were categorized as BA.2.3.20, with one case falling under a different Omicron subvariant.
As of July 11, the DOH's COVID-19 Tracker indicated that there are currently 6,152 active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
