To secure the simultaneous Holy Week and Ramadan rites, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy over 74,000 personnel nationwide.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said in a statement on Sunday that 74,114 police officers will secure the country's simultaneous Christian and Muslim rites.

While the Catholic faithful began Holy Week on Palm Sunday and will end it on Easter Sunday, April 9, the Muslim community began Ramadan on March 23 and will end it with the tentative date of Eid al-Fitr on April 21.

Azurin stated that the police will respect the rights of people of all religious backgrounds.
