Authorities are investigating whether seven 'unregistered' luxury vehicles seized in Marilao, Bulacan on Monday night are linked to the controversial Discaya couple, the government contractors implicated in alleged anomalous flood-control projects.
According to RH Edniel Parrosa's report on dzRH's Rapido Hataw Balita, in an interview in Camp Crame, PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) spokesperson PLt. Nadame Malang said the agency has been receiving information that some of the Discayas’ high-end vehicles are being quietly disposed of amid the government’s ongoing crackdown on smuggled luxury cars.
The vehicles are one Ferrari, one Toyota Supra, one BMW M2 Coupe, one Toyota Land Cruiser, two Nissan GT-Rs, and one Maserati — were confiscated by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after authorities discovered they were unregistered.
HPG operatives also arrested the seven drivers of the vehicles, who reportedly claimed to be businessmen.
“Hindi lang specific sa iisang area… buong Pilipinas ang tinitingnan ng PNP-HPG together with the LTO dahil marami na kaming nakukuhang impormasyon na tuloy-tuloy ang pag-didispatya ng mga Discaya ng kanilang luxury cars,” Malang said.
He urged the public to continue sharing credible information, as it is a significant help to authorities.
The HPG, however, has not yet confirmed the possible connection between the seized vehicles and the Discayas.
Several assets linked to the couple have already been placed under government custody, with some units undergoing public auction while others remain secured inside their Pasig City compound due to various red flags.
Discaya's vehicles auction
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported revenue collections from the latest auction of vehicles previously seized from the Discayas.
Three out of seven vehicles sold were:
- Mercedes-Benz G500 – ₱15.5 million
- Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG – ₱15.6 million
- Lincoln Navigator – ₱7.1 million
The two Mercedes-Benz units were purchased by Simplex Industrial Corp., while the Lincoln Navigator was sold to Lesentrell Jewelries.
Authorities have yet to determine whether the newly seized vehicles in Bulacan form part of the Discayas’ reported attempts to offload their luxury car assets as investigations into their alleged involvement in anomalous government projects continue.
