After more than 24 hours of follow-up operations by the Quezon Police Provincial Office, the four suspects behind the blazing of a modern jeepney unit on a national road in Brgy. Dahican Catanauan, Quezon, has been arrested.
Based on Val Gonzales' report during MBC Network News, citing Catanuan Municipal Police Station, the four suspects were identified as:
- Ernesto Toriado
- Noel Cervantes Mariano
- Dominic Valerio Ramos
- Jade Francis Cabales Castro.
According to Area Police Command-Southern Luzon Director PltGen. Rhoderick Armamento, it appears that the motive of the arson was rooted in the feud between the modern jeepney cooperative and the local transport group.
After they burned the vehicle, suspects were tracked down and found at a resort in Butanyog, a town in Mulanay, Quezon.
The get-away vehicle that the suspects rode in after the fire was also found near the area.
On Wednesday night, Jan. 31, the four arrested suspects blocked and set fire to the modern jeep containing passengers while traveling along the said national road.
A molotov bomb pelted the modern jeepney until it burst into flames.
