In a report by Val Gonzales, citing the Philippine National Police Headquarters' probe, the Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) was traveling along the highway at half past seven when the driver, Carl Bayer Villanueva, was intercepted by four armed men.
Villanueva's statement at the Catanauan municipal police station said his passengers forced them to get out of the passenger vehicle and told them it was not a holdup.
Armed group's command to follow and turn around, Villanueva, including his passengers, obeyed the armed group when a Molotov bomb was unexpectedly thrown inside the modern jeep.
The modern jeepney, which is owned by the Gumaca Transport Cooperative, was worstly damaged by the fire.
Authorities are still looking for the four suspects.
A thorough investigation into the real motive and the group involved in the burning is now being conducted.
