As support to the Department of Interior and Local Government's (DILG) effort to take out scalawags, three generals and 22 colonels from the Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-11) submitted their resignation on Friday.
Brigadier General Benjamin Silo Jr., the PRO-11 regional director stated that they form a unity as their way of supporting the call of Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr.
Silo made sure that the resignation of top officials from PRO-11 has no direct effect on their operational activities versus illegal drugs.
He clarified that they will still continue to do their service while waiting for the result of the evaluation from the five-man committee that will be named by the DILG and the Philippine National Police (PNP), while they have tendered their resignation.
Additionally, he reaffirmed that none of the PRO-11 members had engaged in any illicit drug-related activity.
Abalos, however, expressed gratitude for the action and support of all of the country's servicemen, not only those from PRO-11.
Benjamin Magalong, the mayor of Baguio City, is one of the five men on the committee that would discuss and assess the resigning officials, according to Abalos.
He stated that the committee will review the intelligence report, consider its findings, and go through a procedure to identify scalawag PNP personnel.
