A family of four died when a landslide struck Sitio Manalao, Subic Ilaya in Agoncillo, Batangas due to torrential rains brought by typhoon Carina.
With the help of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Agoncillo Municipal Police, the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), Municipal Health Office (MHO), and the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWDO), the Pamahalaang Barangay of Subic Ilaya recovered the victims this morning.
The local government of Agoncillo announced in a statement that the victims were the family Rimas: a 28-year-old woman six months pregnant and three minors aged 9, 13, and 15.
Batangas, like many parts of the country, is experiencing heavy rains because of the southwest monsoon, also known as habagat--aggravated by Typhoon Carina, according to PAGASA.
