Additional three communities in Taguig are now cleared of illegal drugs, according to its local government.
On Thursday, the City hall said that Barangays Calzada-Tipas, South Daang Hari, and Central Signal were awarded respective certificates of being drug-free, bringing a total number of six drug-free communities in the city.
Barangay San Miguel 2019 became the first community to be declared free from illegal drugs while in May last year, Barangays Katuparan and Bambang were also recognized as drug-free.
The drug-free status has been recognized in barangays which were previously named drug-affected communities due to the presence of users, traffickers, and drug dens.
Last week, a speculated high-value drug suspect was arrested after the police raided his house along P. Mariano St. in Barangay Ususan.
Reportedly yielded around 14 grams of shabu worth P95,200, a .45-caliber handgun, and ammunition, Bernardo Tiñga was nabbed by the authorities, said Southern Police director Brig. General Kirby John Kraft.
The suspect had already faced charges, such as possession of drugs and illegal possession of a firearm being readied against him.
