Three areas in Luzon were hoisted under Signal no. 1 as Super Typhoon Henry slows down, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Friday morning.

In its 5 am tropical cyclone bulletin, the weather bureau said the center of the eye of Hinnamnor or locally named as Henry was spotted at 395 kilometers near East of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph.

Based on PAGASA’s forecast, typhoon Henry will remain almost stationary on Friday morning before tracking slowly northwestward in the afternoon.

“Henry will eventually accelerate northward tomorrow and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on tomorrow evening or Sunday morning,” PAGASA said.

Under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number no. 1 are Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Santa Ana Cagayan.

The weather bureau said Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Abra will likely to experience moderate to heavy rains with at times intense.

While light to moderate with at times heavy rains possible over Cagayan and the rest of Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Moderate to heavy rains are possible over Batanes and light to moderate with at times heavy rains are possible over Babuyan Islands on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and track the weather updates.

“In the next 24 hours, Henry may bring moderate to rough seas over the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon (1.2 to 3.0 m). These conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts,” it said.
